Nissin Tools has high efficiency machining with its unique large bottom edge radius

56% reduction in machining time compared to ball end mills

The high-efficiency lens-type 3 -flute end mill " MLFH330 "  recently launched by Nissin Tools has a unique blade shape that allows the pick feed (cut interval) to be set larger than that of ball end mills, which are mainly used in 5-axis machining.

Generally, the shape of a ball end mill is limited by ``Ball R = Outer diameter /2 ''. For this reason, the pick feed cannot be set large with small-diameter tools, making it difficult to process efficiently. MLFH330 realizes a lens-shaped "bottom edge R ≧ outer diameter". By increasing R relative to the outer diameter , the pick feed can be set larger than that of a ball end mill.

For example, for a φ6 2 -flute ball end mill, it is R3 , but for MLFH330 , it is R8 even though it is also φ6 . In other words, the same R size as a φ16 tool can be secured. Achieves high machining efficiency by increasing pick feed with a large bottom edge R.

On the other hand, larger cuts mean larger chips, and poor evacuation can cause chips to become clogged. This product has a unique tool shape that provides sufficient evacuation space for the size of the chips, so it does not interfere with machining.

Additionally, since this product uses 3 -flute blades, the feed speed is higher than that of a typical 2 -flute ball end mill, contributing to higher machining efficiency along with the increased R size. It is suitable for machining gently sloped and flat surfaces with large machining areas, such as molds for head-up displays, and in a machining demonstration conducted by the company, machining time was reduced by approximately 56% . It offers benefits in terms of both productivity and cost, such as improving tool life by shortening machining time.
